There was a virtual Committee meeting held recently where the main item was to discuss the re-opening of the club following the slight easing of the Lockdown advice given by the Government.
Since this easing was announced Bowls England, on advice from the department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have issued guidelines for Bowls Clubs. This information can be found on the Bowls England Covid-19 website.
It was agreed at the meeting that we should adapt these guidelines to suit our club and a copy of the Guidelines for Courtauld Halstead Bowls Club are attached to this email.
The main points of these guidelines are:
You must book a session before going to the club
You must maintain the two-metre social distancing rule all the time (unless you are members from the same household)
You must clean any Club equipment you have used once you have finished with it.
Both ends of the club house will be opened daily before the start of the first session to allow use of the toilets, please do not use the changing rooms or the main clubhouse as these remain closed to members until further notice. On completing your session please leave the doors open. They will be closed and locked after the last session.
I am certain if we can all stick with these few simple rules then we have the opportunity to get some more exercise during this difficult time of “Lockdown” and at the same time enjoy the sport we love, albeit in a very limited way.
This letter and guidelines are by no means intended to put pressure on any club member and make them feel they must get out and bowl. They are merely to allow those who wish to bowl, the opportunity to do so but with restrictions.
Remember! If we follow the Government advice, “Stay Alert, Stay Safe and Protect the NHS” we can all, hopefully, at some time get back to some sort of normality.
